A haemorrhagic stroke often comes without warning, and the road back can feel long. You might be dealing with weakness down one side, problems with balance, or a level of tiredness you’ve never felt before. Your family may be wondering how best to support you.

At CN Rehab, we help people with recovery through specialist stroke rehabilitation at our clinic in Stourbridge. We work with you one-to-one to rebuild movement, strength and confidence, at a pace that’s right for you.

What Is a Haemorrhagic Stroke?

A haemorrhagic stroke happens when a blood vessel in or around the brain bursts and bleeds. The bleeding damages brain cells and builds up pressure inside the skull. This can affect movement, speech, memory and other functions. High blood pressure is the most common cause. Weakened blood vessels and aneurysms can also be responsible.

Signs of a stroke haemorrhage

A bleed on the brain causes the same FAST signs as other strokes: the face drooping, weakness in the arms and slurred speech. It can also bring on a sudden, severe headache, often described as the worst headache of your life. Other signs include vomiting, a stiff neck, sensitivity to light and loss of consciousness.

Specialist Haemorrhagic Stroke Rehabilitation

The right rehab can make a real difference to how much you recover. At CN Rehab, our physiotherapists, occupational therapists and stroke recovery specialists help with:

  • Walking, balance and preventing falls
  • Weakness, stiffness or spasticity on one side of the body
  • Drop foot and catching your foot as you walk
  • Arm and hand movement for everyday tasks
  • Fatigue and building your stamina back up
  • Independence at home and confidence getting out and about

We start by getting to know you and what you want to achieve. Your Haemorrhagic Stroke recovery programme is then shaped around those goals and adapted as you progress.

How We Support Your Haemorrhagic Stroke Recovery

As the bleed settles and the swelling goes down, the brain can start to adapt and form new connections. This is known as neuroplasticity. With the right rehab, it can help you regain skills you thought you’d lost. Our Stourbridge neuro rehab clinic gives you the repetition, challenge and expert support your brain needs to make that happen.

Walking and balance

Our Lexo Gait Trainer uses robotics to guide natural walking patterns, so you can practise far more steps than you could on your own. The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill and LiteGait support your body weight while you build strength safely. TYMO and Strolll AR Glasses help to improve your balance and posture.

Weakness and drop foot

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) activates weak muscles to help you lift your foot as you walk. FES cycling lets you exercise and build fitness, even with significant muscle weakness.

Arm and hand recovery

The AMADEO and PABLO systems help you relearn movement in your arm, hand and fingers, through exercises based on real-life tasks like reaching, gripping and dressing.
