Medicolegal / Case Management Services

Specialist Rehabilitation for Medicolegal and Case Management Referrals

CN Rehab provides specialist physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for medicolegal claimants and case-managed clients across a wide range of complex and high-value cases. With over 15 years of experience working alongside solicitors, legal teams, case managers and funding parties, we have built a reputation for delivering clinically excellent, thoroughly documented and cost-effective rehabilitation that stands up to scrutiny at every stage of the legal and case management process.

We understand the demands of medicolegal work. Timelines matter, documentation needs to be detailed and defensible, and the rehabilitation itself must be evidence-based, outcomes-focused and clearly aligned to the client's functional and therapeutic needs. At CN Rehab, we deliver on all of these requirements, combining specialist clinical expertise with some of the most advanced rehabilitation technology available in the UK.

Who We Work With

Our medicolegal and case management service is designed to support professionals working on complex personal injury, clinical negligence and catastrophic injury cases. We regularly work with:

  • Case managers
  • Solicitors and legal teams
  • Barristers and expert witnesses
  • Insurance companies and rehabilitation providers
  • NHS continuing healthcare teams
  • Occupational health providers
  • Independent financial advisors managing personal injury trusts

Whether you are at the early stages of a case and need a detailed functional assessment with costing recommendations, or you are looking to commission ongoing rehabilitation for a client whose needs are already well established, our team can support you efficiently and professionally.

Our Experience and Expertise

CN Rehab has provided physiotherapy assessment and treatment for medicolegal claimants and case-managed clients for over 15 years. During that time, we have worked on a wide range of cases, including:

Traumatic brain injury:

We have extensive experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of clients with traumatic brain injury at all levels of severity, from mild concussion with persistent symptoms through to severe TBI with complex physical, cognitive and behavioural presentations.

Spinal cord injury:

Our team includes specialists in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, with experience across complete and incomplete lesions at all spinal levels. We are equipped with the technology and clinical expertise to deliver intensive, evidence-based rehabilitation programmes that address the full range of physical and functional challenges associated with spinal cord injury.

Stroke and acquired brain injury

We provide specialist neurological physiotherapy and rehabilitation for stroke and acquired brain injury clients, including those with complex presentations involving spasticity, communication difficulties, cognitive impairment and significant functional limitation.

Clinical negligence:

We are experienced in working on clinical negligence cases involving neurological, orthopaedic and complex medical presentations, providing detailed functional assessments, outcome-based rehabilitation programmes and regular progress reporting.

Workplace injuries:

Our team assesses and treats clients with workplace injuries ranging from musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain presentations through to serious traumatic injuries with significant functional consequences.

Complex polytrauma:

We have experience working with clients who have sustained multiple serious injuries, providing integrated rehabilitation programmes that address the complex interaction of physical, neurological and psychological factors that characterise polytrauma presentations.

Assessment and Reporting

When you instruct CN Rehab to work with your client, the process begins with a thorough, specialist assessment of their current functional and therapeutic needs. Our assessments are designed to provide the level of detail and rigour required by case managers, solicitors and funding parties.

What our assessments include:

Our assessments combine detailed clinical evaluation with robotic and computerised assessment tools that generate objective, measurable outcome data. This provides a level of evidential depth that goes beyond what is achievable through conventional clinical assessment alone, giving the legal and case management team clear, defensible documentation of the client's current status and the basis for funding requests.

Each assessment report includes a comprehensive account of the client's presentation, a summary of clinical findings supported by objective outcome measures, a clearly structured rehabilitation programme with specific goals and timelines, detailed costings for all recommended treatment, and recommendations regarding equipment, adaptations and any involvement required from other health professionals.

Our reports are written clearly and professionally for a legal and case management audience. We are experienced in producing documentation that meets the requirements of both litigation and case management funding processes, and we are happy to discuss specific reporting requirements with instructing parties before assessment takes place.

Rehabilitation Programmes

Once treatment is commissioned, your client gains access to a specialist rehabilitation environment equipped with the latest available rehabilitation technology. Our programmes are evidence-based, individually tailored and designed to help each client make as much progress as possible towards their rehabilitation goals.

Technology-assisted rehabilitation

CN Rehab is equipped with robotic therapy systems, anti-gravity treadmill technology, EMG biofeedback and game-based computerised rehabilitation platforms. These tools allow our clients to achieve levels of therapeutic repetition and precision that are simply not possible through conventional physiotherapy alone, accelerating progress and producing better functional outcomes.

Hydrotherapy

Our purpose-built hydrotherapy pool is available as part of medicolegal and case-managed rehabilitation programmes where clinically indicated. The pool is maintained at a constant therapeutic temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, is fully hoisted and provides a sensory-adapted environment suited to clients with complex neurological presentations.

Community and home-based rehabilitation

Where clinically appropriate and agreed with the instructing party, we can provide rehabilitation at the client's home or in community settings. We are experienced in delivering high-quality physiotherapy in a range of environments, including the client's home, gyms, climbing walls and equestrian facilities, ensuring that rehabilitation is functional, meaningful and connected to the activities and environments that matter to the individual client.

Return to work support

Where return to work is a realistic goal, we provide structured support to help clients work towards meaningful employment. This includes functional capacity assessment, workplace liaison, recommendations for adaptations and a graduated return to work programme developed in collaboration with the client and their employer. We understand that for many clients, a return to previous employment is not possible. In these cases, we focus on supporting access to community activities, social participation and the wider aspects of life that contribute to physical and psychological wellbeing.

Support staff training

We provide training for support workers, carers and family members to enable them to assist effectively with rehabilitation and exercise programmes on a daily basis. Embedding rehabilitation practice into the client's daily routine is one of the most effective ways to maximise progress and ensure that gains made during formal therapy sessions are consolidated and built upon.

Progress Reporting and Communication

We understand that case managers and legal teams require regular, reliable communication about their clients' progress. CN Rehab provides structured progress updates and written reports throughout every rehabilitation programme, ensuring that instructing parties are kept fully informed and that documentation is available to support ongoing funding requests and legal proceedings.

Our reports are detailed, outcome-focused and written with a legal and case management audience in mind. We are responsive to requests for additional documentation or clarification and are happy to attend case conferences, multi-disciplinary team meetings and, where required, to provide expert evidence in support of legal proceedings.

Why Instruct CN Rehab?

Specialist expertise: Our team are specialists in neurological and complex rehabilitation, not generalists. Every client referred to us is assessed and treated by clinicians with advanced training and extensive experience in their area of clinical practice.

Advanced technology: Our rehabilitation centre is equipped with technology that is not widely available in the independent sector. This allows us to deliver outcomes that go beyond what conventional physiotherapy can achieve and to support those outcomes with objective, measurable data.

Responsive and professional: We understand the time pressures and documentation requirements of medicolegal and case management work. We aim to offer assessment appointments within a few days of instruction, and we are committed to delivering reports and updates within agreed timescales.

Flexible delivery: We can deliver rehabilitation at our specialist centre, at the client's home or in community and specialist settings, depending on clinical need and the practicalities of the case.

Cost-effective: We are committed to providing first-class rehabilitation that represents genuine value for funding parties. Our detailed assessment reports include transparent costings, and we work collaboratively with case managers and legal teams to ensure that rehabilitation plans are both clinically appropriate and cost-justified.

All of our physiotherapists are registered members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and hold relevant specialist clinical qualifications and memberships.
